Rooms.. Nostalgia... :-)

Tomorrow I will be again changing my accomodation. I am staying in my company accommodation as a bachelor sharing a little 2 bedroom 1 hall flat with a fellow colleague. Now I will be moving to a same kinda' flat in the same colony but different roomie... company decision...

I was just havin' a 5 minute chill in my balcony for the last day looking at the landscape visible (2 3 highrises, some green trees in some distant and the colony playground).. nothing special but today suddenly it was looking very special. I started wondering that how many times I have faced this special occasions in my life... And the thought crossed to pen this down in a blog which i always wanted but never happened. Kindly try to bear the pain folks.. :-)

The first room which i remember in my consciousness was the one in a flat which our family was staying in my hometown Agartala. This was a cozy nice Govt quarters in a very nice colony. 10 years we stayed there and maybe in the 2nd year i was given a separate room. The year was 1994. The room used to be cold in winters and hot in summers. So my dear mom asked me not to sleep here. But somehow i got hooked to it and never agreed justifyin that it was ok. Slowly study tables moved in, stacks of books and notebooks and in 1998 the Computer. :-)..The first one in my friend circle and a very precious gift ever from my dad. The room became a club as we began growing up, always full with my friends gossipin, playing cricket 97 and fifa 98, Roadrash on the PC. My friends also got PCs maybe better ones sooner or later but i felt that the enjoyment we had in our place was never there..i hope my friends will agree... :-)... Somehow studies had to go on... class 10 & 12 exams went by with me trying hard to make my parents happy with good results. This was the room which even saw me fall in love for the first and only time....the happy, sad, tense moments of an innocent love... , the storehouse of all secret greeting cards and love letters.... I finished my 12th.. I had to move to college and also our family move to a new much bigger flat in the same colony...

College: First time out of home, the love and care of parents.. I was in NIT Silchar... The next day after admission formalities were over, I was to move to a place called 4th Hostel. The hostel buildings were looking new from outside but between all there was a kinda' haunted house which was looking as old as some broken remains of world war.... I was prayin let this NOT be my hostel and God listened.. I was allotted 4th hostel.... :-) ... The room was a room.. only a room.. with 1 roommate from my place only.. Kamaljit.... It was at the end of the single room wing where the final year students stayed and we were the scapegoats for them.... next 2 3 months we new guyz were the tax free entertainment package of everyone in the college. All these frustartions and tiredness came to an end when we reached this room of ours. A new roomie moved in and things went on. 2nd year was another roomie. It was also a ok ok experience.

By 3rd year I had a good friends group. I moved to a room with another guy who was maybe the most simple fellow in our college. he slep at 10, woke up at 6, never complaining on any single thing, and most helful in study related matters. I got a PC by then and net connection was there in our hostels. Again a mini club kinda' happened. we had a real good time.

My 4th year room was the heaven and best place I have stayed till now. It was a nice little single room in 2nd floor just at the end of staircase. The balconies of this was like one is shared by two single rooms. It had the most breathtaking view ever; The lush green landscape of our college, one of the beautiful lakes, the college boundary, unending stretches of green fields beyond that and finally hills and clouds touching the same. One could spend hours standing there. Different charm for different seasons and rains being the most amazing. You stand there and all your sorrows will wash away and happiness would multiply. My next roomie and balcony mate was my best friend Ravi (Bhasad) Mishra. The wing was rechristened unofficially as "Bhasad" as it was most chaotic in the hostel. The bunch of characters in the floor being allround and we had real ball each and every nights. You could hear sounds here till 3 4 am in the morning. My room was like a club again.. uselss chatter whole day... movies... etc etc... the comfy bed where i slept till 12 noon.. the study table where i have studied maybe 30 days max in the whole final year. The late nite tea service by Lashkar and other stuff by Aurobindo.. ;-)... The histrionics of Avinash, Mishra, Bawri, Kejriwal, DVD, Debasish, Kaushik, Patel, Prakash, Kaushal kept every moment alive..... every nite a celebration.... the shouts from our balcony to every single passerby or players in the field was another novel timepass..... time moved on... we finished college... we bade each others goodbye and I really missed this room of mine like anything....

Then I joined BPCL...luck favoured and I got a posting in Mumbai, moved to this flat of mine... This room again became a new playground.... Old friends gathered here....hangout with new friends and colleagues.... the great parties..... unexpectedly college life is still very much ON.... The greatest comfort zone was this abode of mine again....

Now the time has come to change this again and again as always I am nostalgic.... I guess its the same story for many people in this world but still unique for everyone.... Life is about moving on but again its about looking back and cherishing the roads left behind.... It makes you happy and maybe sad sometimes... but all these makes you feel more fulfilled and better..... I have loved my life and will always do..... And thanks to everyone who has been a part of it........

I know it might have been a boring blog... Look forward to inputs to do better the next time... :-)..

Thanks
